[00:00:00] Yeah. Mhm.
Welcome back to the women in writing podcast. My name is Christina. I'm the host and the founder of with Christina limited. And I'm all about supporting other people, especially other women in growing their freelance writing and editing career. And for me, it's such a matter of the heart to be honest, because I was able to create like such a free life.
with my writing skills and my editing skills and everything like my love for kind of this industry as well to like it really changed my life 360. This episode is going to be short and it's going to be like my goal is to keep that under 10 minutes and it's going to inform you about the way [00:01:00] I want to work and I work with clients on a single basis because I feel like there's so many things out there that are misunderstood nowadays in like the freelance writing and freelance editing world.
There is a lot of people out there that suggest, for example, like freelance job platforms like Upwork or Fiber, or there are people that like swear that kind of like cold pitching online is the best thing to get like writing clients or copywriting clients, for example. But I think there's so much more that you can do.
And I want to focus. All on like giving you practical and giving my students practical strategies of how they can create a life where they have the flexibility to wake up in the morning, like early, late, whenever, and just sit down on their laptops and write and know that they're paid for this writing or for their editing skills, instead of starting to, pitch to marketing for [00:02:00] themselves, grow their social media accounts to eventually get clients or not.
But, for me, it's more about like being efficient and being effective with like my work and the way I do marketing. And for me as a coach now, it's obviously a different story in terms of like marketing and like being out there. But I was always more of an introverted person.
And for me, it was always a little bit dreadful to, put myself out there and speak, more publicly and stuff like it's different now because I grew into that role especially with my coaching. But with my writing, I just wanted to focus on really like creating something special for my clients.
Obviously, I wanted to create like a good quality and everything, but I didn't want to, have to do all the things that other people suggested and I'm not saying that these so called strategies don't work I mean there's numerous people out there like amazing brilliant coaches that have like way [00:03:00] more students than I have and they, recommend some of these strategies and that's absolutely fine.
But if you are coming from a point of view where you are also more like really valuing your time in terms of yes, you want to build a business and you want to take this serious, but also you want to preserve your time and really focus on writing for your clients, making money instead of growing that big expert status like in the background.
really having to do all the things to get clients, then I think like I am the better address than, other people may be. But obviously everyone can pick and choose what works for them best. And I'm not saying that it's easy. So if you think that you can start tomorrow making your first 10k a month, like that's most likely not going to happen.
Just from my experience, I led over 50 students now. I'm like my two year coaching career, and I've written I don't [00:04:00] know, over 500 projects for high paying clients now. Since 20 early 2016, I would say. I'm a freelance writer since 2008. So I started out in my kind of like early 20s being a freelance writer, but I did all I made a lot of mistakes.
So this is also like why I can spare you from some of these mistakes. And for me, it really took until I was working with a professional mentor myself. Until I really took it serious and then really was able to finally live and live good of my writing career instead of, just, treating it as a side gig, which it was for me before, but like my love for writing.
was always too strong. And I kept going even though I had like people run off with my work, changing the email addresses, ghosting me after the project was done, and never paid me for my work like that all happened to me and I just want to spare you from that. So what I want to do [00:05:00] in this podcast episode is like just explaining you the three steps.
How. I refined my own methodology, how I lead my clients and especially my clients and like my group coaching and my one on one programs to really grow to their first 10K in writing income. Because this is my guarantee that I work with people until they reach their first 10K. 10, 000 U.
S. dollars in writing or editing income. And why is that? That's obviously a bold promise, but I know that it works because I and also like my subcoach, like she's an amazing lady from the U. S. as well. I'm not from the U. S. I'm from Germany, living in England right now, but I lived in the U. S. for a while and I'm very familiar with the market there as well.
I know or we know a hundred percent that it is possible for everybody. It is possible for everybody to hit 10k in writing [00:06:00] income or editing income on a freelance basis if they apply the right strategies. And the right strategies, in my opinion, from like my own experience and the experience of working with my students, is really divided in only three.
Simple steps. The first step is building a strong foundation. So I work with people that are just starting out that just, they love writing. They might have done it like from a young age. They might be like into kind of writing poems, like writing short stories. writing creatively, but they have never paid for their writing.
Or I also work with freelance writers that kind of are experienced and they made money already or they're making money already. But they're just not at that point where they have like that freedom and like easy flow of projects coming in. So it's more of it feels stuck and it feels like that their work is not really valued.
If you're one of these [00:07:00] kind of two people. target groups, I would say, you would be like an ideal client for me. And working on a strong foundation can look different for everybody. If you want to build the writing skills, you can definitely build the writing skills. In my course, I offer like a copywriting course, I offer certificates, I offer like everything that has to do with ghostwriting, writing memoirs, writing creatively, and also edit.
But also I want to make sure and that's like important for the people that are writers already. That you have the right business skills and the right business mindset to really grow this business, to the next level and allow yourself to have that ease and that flexibility in your day, basically creating like time, freedom, location, freedom and financial freedom for yourself and also your family.
So that's like the first step that we are working on in the program. And the second step is already called creating cash flow. And as it sounds [00:08:00] great. It can be a little bit more of a difficult step for some people. If you have not created writing income yet, it's sometimes a lot of times actually has to do with a little bit of mindset as well.
Because, when you're writing, When we start writing, we can feel like a little bit of pressure, imposter syndrome, other people may be judging us, like, all of these things play a major role. But like creating cashflow is all about like applying the right strategies, really finding either like a high paying agency for you, depending on what writing niche you're in, or really like finding your first long term clients that you can then work with.
work with and really create this cash flow, almost proving to yourself that you can do it as well. And then step number three is scaling. And that's my favorite step. So basically we take what works already. We make it almost happens naturally. Like we. Okay. Want to make sure that you're more efficient in terms of your time pricing, the things you're doing, like how you [00:09:00] communicate with your clients, everything.
So you can scale to a stage where you feel comfortable, a stage that you feel aligned with in terms of Hey, that works out for me in terms of my time commitment, in terms of it feels good. What jobs I'm doing. And if you start out and if you don't have the clarity yet, what it is that you really want to do.
It might be copywriting, it might be like content writing, it might be more creative, then like this is also like the perfect time to jump into the program because it gives you so much more clarity. Clarity will come by doing the things and not necessarily overthinking. I have people in my program that paid like 8k for copywriting program and then they.
Realize in the process that copywriting is not for them and that's okay, and I just want to make sure that we cut this time where you can really create income. So if this is for you, reach out to me, I would be super excited. I will offer you a call with me or my team. [00:10:00] Because I think it makes sense that you talk to us.
Like it's obviously an investment in terms of your time in terms of your money. But we want to make sure that you are the right person, especially for the 10k guarantee to really work with us and that you really benefit from us and we benefit from you as a client. All right, I hope that made sense. I almost made it to 10 minutes, so a little bit over.
So let me know if you have any questions, just reach out to me anytime. Thank you for listening.
Yeah. Mhm.
